About Me

Hi! If you’re reading this, (maybe wanting to get to know me better), I say “Welcome!”

Here’s my story in a nutshell: I grew up with parents who pastored churches and enjoyed being involved in the church. We moved to Arizona in 1999 when I was a wee lad of 15 years. Do you realize that Arizona looks like Mars when you first move from a state with…you know…green stuff? But it grows on you….I love Arizona!

Ryan and AmyI went to Arizona State University and graduated with a BA’s in Political Science and Sociology. Kids, never major in political science or sociology. What do you even do with that degree!? It didn’t matter to me, because I was commissioning as an officer in the US Army through ROTC. I finished the ROTC program while attending school and that began my 4 year active duty Army career.

I went into the US Army as a cavalry officer. I had a great time, worked with amazing people, and spent a year in Kirkuk, Iraq with 6-1 CAV, 1st Armored Div, 1st Brigade. While, in Iraq, my relationship with God was renewed in a powerful way… I still remember the moment it happened. I was reading John 1:16-17 “ From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.”

I began sensing a change was coming for me, and I felt God call me into full-time ministry. That was a pretty big surprise to me as I had mostly drifted away from God in my college years. I never wanted or expected to end up working in ministry. I left the Army as a captain in April 2011 and came back home to AZ.

I began serving my church. Since, then, I married Amy, finished a MA in Theological Studies from Liberty University, and became an ordained minister through the Assemblies of God. I now have the amazing honor of leading Generation Church. I’m biased, but it’s simply the best. Our church people are amazing, loving, compassionate, and filled with grace to the hurting and broken. It’s a judgment free zone, and the LOVE of God rules the atmosphere. Our church has grown in rapid order, as people looking for hope find it in Jesus. Needless to say, I’ve had a short but exciting life so far!

My greatest passion is to help people understand God’s love and grace through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. I know, from personal experience, that Jesus changes everything for everyone.
